From its humble beginnings in 1967, Crystal Mountain has matured into an attractive, viable Westside landmark and a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders from around the Okanagan and beyond. This winter marks the 40th Anniversary of the ski area. Because Crystal is the closest ski hill to the rapidly growing Markets of Kelowna and the Westside, as well as being the closest Okanagan Mountain to Vancouver, plans are in motion to further develop the resort, improving and expanding the services offered in order to turn Crystal into a year round destination resort that will be considered the pride of the Westside. It is our goal, at Crystal Mountain, to offer fabulous views of a natural and scenic environment to the skiing and snowboarding public, While remaining a reasonable price alternative to other resorts. With its renowned dry, featherlight champagne powder snow, Silver Star is a mountain with many attractions. The mountain's stunning 3,065 acres (1,240 hectares) are blanketed by 23 feet (700 cm) annually with the world's best powder. Experience 2,500 vertical feet (760 metres) of descent from the top of the mountain. Comfortable daytime temperatures average -5 C, (27F), which is cold enough to keep the snow light and fluffy, yet absolutely perfect for skiing. Silver Star definitely has a back side that will challenge any hardcore enthusiast. With over 60 runs serviced by the high-speed Powder Gulch Quad, Putnam Creek is renowned for black diamond runs and deep powder snow that will test even the most fervent skier or snowboarder. Winch-cat grooming nightly creates steep fall line cruising that will leave you breathless.
